Its efficient production process has led Grupo Baux to renew the Eco-Label, certified according to ISO 14.021, which endorses the Company’s commitment to sustainability and ecological awareness.

99.5 percent of the raw material used by the industrial group Baux in the manufacture of its aluminum coils comes from recycled scrap, giving a new use to products that are part of everyday life and managing natural resources in a more sustainable way, thus integrating its activity within the circular economy.

This efficient production system has led the industrial group, dedicated to aluminum recycling, lamination and lacquering, to recently renew the Eco-Label, certified according to ISO 14.021, which endorses the Company’s commitment to sustainability and ecological awareness.

In this way, by identifying each coil produced by the Company with the Eco-Label, it is made known that the products being purchased are environmentally friendly and responsible.

As Gerardo Caniego, the Company’s Vice President of Operations and Sales, explains, all of the products generated by the company are made from aluminum that has already been used. “Producing recycled aluminum allows us to use only 5 percent of the energy that would be required to produce primary aluminum.”

“In addition, we have the first Hazelett continuous aluminum casting equipment in Europe. This system uses 63 percent of the energy used by classic production processes, which contributes to our position as one of the companies in the sector with the lowest C02 emissions,” Gerardo points out.

This improvement is reinforced by the improvement in the use of electrical energy, which comes entirely from renewable sources with a guarantee of origin certificate.

Grupo Baux’s commitment to sustainability and the environment has intensified in recent years with a significant technological investment that has enabled them to become a benchmark in the aluminum sector, a sector wrongly considered to be highly polluting.

An example of this has been the recent installation by the Company of a new rotary furnace for the smelting of raw material, which will increase the total capacity to 84,000 tons of hot-rolled aluminum per year, improving the use of melted scrap, reducing metal losses in the process and reducing the energy consumption required for smelting.

Social commitment and commitment to the preservation of the environment

In this regard, it should be noted that Grupo Baux has the IQNet SR10:2015 certification, one of the most demanding international certifications in CSR matters, which has been renewed this February, thus endorsing GRUPO BAUX’s corporate social responsibility management system. This management is reflected in its social commitment and with the preservation of the environment, which is based on a policy of awareness of all its workers and other stakeholders, resulting in the responsible use of all raw materials, energy saving processes and the efficient management of the waste generated.

Grupo Baux also carries out actions such as the recent “Sow a tree, sow life” day, together with the Segorbe town council, in which workers and their families took part in the planting of a hundred carob trees in the Municipal Natural Park of La Esperanza.

The company also collaborates with the public administrations of the towns in which its facilities are located by financing various cultural and sports projects, as well as with business associations, educational and research centers.
