Grupo Baux, leader in social responsibility by obtaining the RS10 certification from AENOR

The company has become one of the three companies in the Valencian Community to obtain AENOR’s RS10 certification, a benchmark tool in social responsibility management.

Recycling aluminum for a better future. This is the goal that drives Grupo Baux, which has sustainability in the DNA of its business strategy. Thus, the company, leader in its sector, has become one of the three companies in the Valencian Community to obtain the RS10 certification from AENOR, a reference tool in the management of social responsibility that promotes best practices and recommendations at international level in this area.

The company, in the words of Arantxa Suñer, Vice President of Human Resources and Head of Sustainability at Grupo Baux, “has sustainability in its genes”. “The composition of our products is certified as 99.5% recycled, we work under the circular economy model and we recycle significant amounts of aluminum, hence the carbon footprint of our products is the lowest in the sector in Europe,” she explains.

Thus, this certification by AENOR based on the IQNet SR10 standard verifies the coherence of the company’s strategy and provides it with an instrument that allows it to progress along this line and, at the same time, to involve all the stakeholders with the greatest impact on its business: workers, suppliers, customers, administrations and other entities in its progress.

“We are convinced that sustainability, social responsibility and good governance are key to the progress of society and the future of new generations. Therefore, we want to be part of it, to be a benchmark in the sector and to act as agents of change in terms of sustainability and social responsibility,” adds the Baux Group’s Sustainability Manager at this point.

Corporate sustainability is no longer merely incidental

“Sustainability is no longer something accessory for companies,” stresses the director of Ética Sostenibilidad, Sabrina Femenía. “We cannot be left behind in the current context, where financial institutions, investors and administrations have already begun to include this information in their evaluations and ratings, which affects, and in some cases conditions, financing and investment,” explains Femenía

Ética Sostenibilidad has worked with Grupo Baux in this process of change from the very first steps. “For us, accompanying a company like Baux on this path towards its sustainable business transformation has been very gratifying. Obtaining this certification endorses the quality and coherence of the work carried out, which already has a very solid foundation and will undoubtedly have to be maintained and developed further,” says the director of the consultancy firm.

An effectively tested management system

This recognition by an independent entity such as AENOR highlights the Baux Group’s public commitment to the implementation of a tool that involves a comprehensive approach to the most relevant aspects of sustainability, both economic, environmental, social and good governance, and relations with stakeholders, which reduces risks and identifies opportunities.

The effectiveness and robustness of the company’s Integrated Quality, Environment and Safety Management System had already been confirmed through previous certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45000. Various procedures have been revised and updated in accordance with the new RS10IQNet standard. The implementation of the Internal Complaints Channel, the Protocol for Workplace, Sexual or Gender-based Harassment and the new Code of Ethics are some of the most outstanding examples.

The anti-corruption policy, the remuneration policy and the purchasing policy are other new high-impact measures that Grupo Baux has implemented. The industrial group has also created a mechanism to establish the materiality matrix, detect the main stakeholders in the business and implement tools to facilitate communication with them.
