Grupo Baux’s Carbon Footprint, the lowest in the sector

Grupo Baux’s Carbon Footprint, the lowest in the sector

The Carbon Footprint is gradually acquiring greater relevance within companies and its measurement is becoming essential to quantify the direct or indirect GHG of its activity and products, being an ally of environmental management and the strategic plan of sustainability of organizations.

There are two types of Carbon Footprint calculation:

– Organizational Carbon Footprint: It is the most used by companies and can be applied to any type of sector. It consists of measuring the direct (Scope 1) and indirect (Scope 2 and 3) GHG emissions of its activity, being usual to measure the first two and not so common to measure the third Scope. At CVAB we include all three in our certification since the third, for industrial sectors such as ours, is the one with the greatest contribution.

Scope 1 corresponds to emissions from the organization’s own activities in its facilities: fuel consumption, fuels in vehicles, refrigerant gases flown in air conditioning equipment, etc.

Scope 2 is indirect emissions due to electricity consumption.

Scope 3 is indirect emissions from waste management, type of raw materials, business travel, product sales, etc.

In 2021, the carbon footprint of ORGANIZATION (Scope 1 and 2) of Grupo Baux was 0.3838 t CO² eq/t Aluminum.

If we also include Scope 3, it was 2,692 t CO² eq/t Aluminum, in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO 14064 standard.

– Product Carbon Footprint: Consists of measuring the GHG emissions of its product per unit (kg, liters…) based on its life cycle. Only applicable to companies that manufacture products.

The PRODUCT Carbon Footprint of Grupo Baux was 1.54 t CO² eq/t Aluminum, according to the UNE-EN ISO 14067 standard.

Estadísticas de la huella de carbono de Grupo Baux, la más baja del sector

At Grupo Baux, we can affirm that the Carbon Footprint of our products is one of the lowest in the sector thanks to the 99.5% of recycled aluminum used in the manufacture of our aluminum coils, thus integrating our business model in the Circular Economy. Thanks to our technology and processes, we only use 63% of the energy required by alternative processes for the manufacture of aluminum coils.

Year after year, the Carbon Footprint is one of the main indicators on which we put our maximum effort and dedication, as our commitment to the environment and sustainability goes much further, aiming to reduce them by 20% by the end of 2023.
